Lesson Types
I offer piano, voice, and songwriting instruction, or any combination of those three. Lessons are weekly, recurring slots of 30 or 60 minutes.
I recommend hour-long lessons for adolescent and adult voice students and half-hour lessons for most other cases. Lessons every other week or on an ad hoc basis are not available.
Tuition & Payment
As of January 2026, my lesson rate is $170/month for half-hour lessons, $340/month for full-hour lessons. Payment for lessons is due in advance by the end of the month.
Students or families with abundant financial resources are invited to pay more to sponsor lessons for students or families in financial need. If you are interested in lessons with me, but unable to afford lessons at the listed rate, please reach out to be added to my sponsored-slot wait list.
Missed Lessons/Cancellations
If you cancel more than 24 hours ahead of time, or cancel the day of your lesson due to illness, that lesson’s fee will become a makeup lesson credit.
You are welcome to use makeup lesson credit at any time for as long as you are my student. Refunds are not available.
If I am unable to teach due to illness or an emergency, I will give at least one hour’s notice and the lesson will become a makeup credit.
Equipment Requirements
All students must have a device for the lesson call and an internet connection of at least 5 Mbps download/upload speed.
For a device, tablet or laptop is strongly preferred to smartphone. Please check connection ahead of time. Nice-to-have equipment includes headphones and an external microphone.
Piano students must have at least a 61-key digital keyboard to start. Voice students must have their camera at an angle that allows me to see from waist to face (seated or standing).
Studio Schedule
Lessons take place every week through the calendar year.
The only exceptions to this are:
- Jan 1 – New Year’s Day
- 3rd Monday of January – MLK Day
- March 11 – Aaron’s birthday!
- June 19 – Juneteenth
- 1st Monday of September – Labor Day
- Cultural/religious holidays of student
- Arrange specific holidays at least one month in advance.
Safeguarding
During lessons with under-7 students, I ask that the student have a guardian in the room with them. For ages 7-18, students must at least have the door to their space open and a guardian at home. I do not have any direct contact with students under 18 outside of lessons.
